Fowlers Place is an independent, founder-led executive search firm. We exist for one reason: to bring partner-level judgment, research, and patience to every senior search across alternative investments.
Our Story
Fowlers Place was founded in 2019 to do something the industry rarely does well: treat each senior search as a long-term relationship, not a transaction.
We've seen too many mandates handled by junior researchers, pitched on speed rather than fit, and closed before the real conversation begins. Our model is the inverse. Every engagement is led by a partner, from the first calibration call through the integration period after a candidate joins.
The firm is intentionally small. We accept a limited number of mandates each quarter so we can give each one the depth it deserves — and so we never compete against ourselves for the same candidate. Our clients are funds at every stage of their lifecycle, from emerging managers building a founding investment team to established platforms recruiting senior partners and successors.
What we do is simple. What it takes to do it well is not.
Values
Every engagement is treated as confidential by default. We move slowly enough to do it properly.
Long-lists are built from primary research and cultivated relationships — not paid database queries.
Partner-led from start to finish. The person who pitches the mandate is the person who runs it.
We say no to mandates we cannot serve well, and to candidates who are not the right fit. Honesty is the product.
Team
Fowlers Place is intentionally small. Mandates are run by the founder, supported by trusted senior researchers and external advisors brought in for specific sector or geographic depth.

April founded Fowlers Place to bring partner-level attention to every senior search engagement. Her practice focuses on senior investment professionals and operating leaders across private equity, growth equity and private credit. She works directly with founders, managing partners and CHROs at funds across the lifecycle.
Open Engagement
For specialized mandates, we bring in senior research partners and advisors with deep domain coverage on a per-engagement basis.
